Bonds visits Petco for a pivotal series against the Padres.

7 games left in the 2005 MLB season and the Padres are 4 games ahead of the Frisco Giants. Making things even more interesting, the Padres host the Giants for a 4 game series. Adding to that Bonds is coming with them. With Baroids on board the Giants are 9 of 13. The Padres have to split the series to walk away with the division from the Giants. I predict that the Padres will have the division win by the end of the series. The 10th Man will be heckling the Giant for the entire series.

So most would advise, to pitch around Bonds. Walk him or at least let him earn a hit or run. Padres got Peavy on the mound tonight and he’s throwing some heat, averaging 90-95mph so far. Peavy faced Bonds and struck him out. Great way to start. Klesko made it better with a 2 run home run in the first. Top of the 3rd now and 2 on and 2 outs for the Giants. Peavy runs his magic against Bonds with the bases loaded and pops him out.

Its rather fitting, that the Chargers started the week toppling the NY Giants. Wouldn’t it be nice if the Padres do the same.
Updates:

  • If the Phillies with the Wild Card the Padres will play Atlanta, if the Astros win the Padres will play the Cardinals. Come ‘on Philly
  • Giants score 2-1 Padres lead.
  • in the 9th with 2 out, Giles drops the ball against the wall. Giants go on to win 3-2.
