Chargers topple the Giants… 45-23

Eli Sucks! Eli Sucks! Eli Sucks! It’s nice to chant isn’t it? Eli actually did pretty well for himself, despite the 6 False Starts and 2 Forced Timeouts caused by the thundering crowd. Credit yourself for disrupting 1 of 10 plays San Diego. With the 45-23 win I think it was safe to say the Chargers got their payback.

Taking a cue from the media, Tomlinson had 28 touches this game. He found himself rushing for 191 yards with 2 touchdowns. He also was on the receiving end 6 times for 28 yards and passing for 26 and a touchdown. He was unstoppable! Brees did exceptionally well at 19/22, 191 yards and 2 touchdowns. Considering 3 of those missed passes were thrown-away when Brees could not find a receiver, he would have been looking at 19/20! But the credit for these two performances must go to the offensive line. They opened holes protected the quarter back. The sack happy Giants never touched Brees for a sack or interception.

Eli Manning actually had a stellar performance. While is pass completion ratio wasn’t the greatest (22/41) he did amount to 352 yards and 2 touchdowns. Enough to make any fantasy football owner take notice. The Chargers defense however forced Eli to pass on nearly every down, as they stopped Tiki Barber from getting into any rhythm.

Next on the schedule is the New England Patriots. Lets hope the Chargers can take advantage of ex-charger Rodney Harrison’s injury and come home with a Win. The Chargers next home game welcomes the Pitsburgh Steelers for a Monday night bout.

Game Notes:

  • Sold Out crowd of 65,373.
  • Giants elected to not have their starting offense announced, before kick-off.

  • McCardell also reached the 10,000 yard plateau. An achievement only reached by 22 other recievers.
