Alt Title: Bolts Own the District of Columbia?

The Chargers have finally proven that they can win the important games. Trailing the Redskins in Washington, the Chargers need a stroke of genus to pull out a win. They got that with 2 LT touchdown runs.

But first… the jack ass move of the week. With the game tied, the Giants jump out on the field for a game winning field goal in the 4th, playing the Seahalks in Seattle. They kick is up… and its wide. But before the kick missed a Fox camera man captured this video. Whoops. Next time Shocky, make sure the points are on the board before you start to celebrate. The Seahalks took the game in overtime, (after another missed fieldgoal), with a field goal of their own. They waited till the officials signaled it was good, before they started celebrating.

So the Chargers took their 4th East Coast trip, to prove they belong in the playoffs. If they were in the NFC there would be no doubt, but they are in the tough AFC West. Todays game keeps them tied with Kansas City, and 1 game behind Jacksonville, Cincinatti, and Pitsburgh. The Chiefs beat up the Patriots today… so did the Chargers, but the Chargers did it in Foxborough. The road to the playoffs placed the chargers against the dolphins and raiders. Two games that should easily be won at home. The tough part is playing undefeated indianapolis who beat the bolts in indy last year, and playing in Kansas City on Christmas Eve. The final game at home vs the Broncos, the Chargers are hoping counts for something.

The other contenders:

  • KC Chiefs – 6-4 (Denver, @Dallas, @ NYGiants, San Diego, Cincinatti)
  • Cincy Bengals 8-3 (@Pittsburgh, Cleveland, @Detroit, Buffalo, @ Kansas City)
Pittsburgh 7-3 (@Indy, Cincinatti, Chicago, @ Minnesota, @ Cleveland, Detroit)
  • Jacksonville 8-3 (@ Cleveland, Indianapolis, San Fransico, @ Houston, Tennessee)

Jacksonville obviously has the leg up, with only having to face 1 more team with a winning record. The Chiefs, have it the worst, with a brutal schedule. Now I believe Pittsburgh and Cincy will stumble. I’m hoping its Cincy, as our loss to the Steelers does not hold up well in the play off scheme. The good thing is they play each other.

So with some luck and the roll of the vegas dice, we’ll be seeing some more post season action.
