Dark Crystal 2!!! Power Of The Dark Crystal

Ok… I read that The Dark Crystal 2 was enter preproduction and I was so excited. They are in production of The Dark Crystal 2. The Dark Crystal was an awesome flick I grew up with. I saw it in the theaters, and I remember being scared me shitless. There something about the giant crabs/spiders things and the Skeksis.

For those who don’t know… the Dark Crystal was a product of Jim Hensens Muppet works in 1982. Featured the voice talent of Frank Oz (read: Yoda). The films cast was entirely made of puppets. Considered a major flop in the theaters, as it was over budget, and dark for Jim Henseon’s typical muppet show, recieved a cult like following in video and dvd sales.

The story is set hundreds of years after the first film and follows a mysterious girl made of fire who steals a shard of the crystal in hopes of reigniting the dying sun. Annette Duffy and David Odell wrote the script. The Jim Henson Co.’s Lisa Henson and the Orphanage Animation Studios’ Scott Stewart will produce. Brian Froud will design new characters for the film.

The best part of it all… The Dark Crystal 2 cast will be puppets again, but will be using CG backgrounds and sets rather then the painted and created sets used for the first movie.
