Desmond Dekker Passes at 64

Posted on | May 30, 2006 | 1 Comment

Desmond Dekker died from a heart attack Monday morning, a the age of 64. I was not fortunate enough to Desmond Dekker play, during my years of World Beat @ Soma attendance in the late 90′s, but was blessed to have found a few of his albums. Dekker was best known for “Israelites”, a hit from 1969. He was a singer/song writer from Kingston, Jamaica playing his own form of Jamaican Ska. A true pioneer from his time.
