Viva Italia…

Italy went on to win its 4th world cup today. They did it in a 1-1 tie, leading to the victory hitting all 5PK’s, while France missed its 2nd.

Working from home was a god-send for this world cup. I was able to watch 90% of the tournament matches. I have been a huge fan since watching the 1994 final from a youth hostel in Belgium. That final ended with Brazil defeating itally in penalty kicks. Since my introduction that year I was a fan of the Italian team.

The down side of the match is when Zidane lost control, in overtime. He had already made a close PK in the first 5min of the match. But in the second OT he head butted an Italian player square in his chest, dropped him straight to the ground. Zidane would receive a red card and could not participate for the rest of the match and penalty kicks.
