Bold Moves…

Taking a tag from the latest Ford Vehicle commercials, the Chargers made a bold move this week. The cut their roster down, in accordance with the NFL rules regarding roster positions through the preseason, what was unexpected was the Charger cut AJ Feely. The Chargers will enter the regular season with three quarterbacks with 0 professional starts.
AJ Feely joined the Bolts last year after a trade for Cleo Lemon, our third string QB, which yielded an additional draft pick the Bolts. I believe General Manager AJ Smith was looking for that alone. That was until AJ restructured his contract for 2006. Feely took back-up QB pay to keep from being cut. Well I guess that wasn’t enough.

Our new back-up quarterback is rookie Charlie Whitehurst. Whitehurst was picked up in the 2006 draft as a 3rd string quarterback option. Whitehurst played exceptionally well against the Seattle Seahawks Saturday and is expected to see more snaps for the Friday game against the San Francisco 49ers.
