Seau Retires…

After a 16 year career in the NFL, Junior Seau will announce his retirement Monday at Charger park. I think its very fitting that the San Diego native will announce his retirement at Charger park, with the team that gave him his start 16 years ago.

Seau of course will probably be known for his o-line punishing swim move to take down countless quarterbacks and runners. Seau played on the 1994 AFC Champion team, and was the face for the Chargers.

Originally with the Chargers, he was traded to Miami for the last 3 years of his career. Unfortunately time had caught up with the linebacker, missing 17 games in the previous 2 seasons.

Seau will undoubtedly get the nomination for the Hall-of-Fame in Canton, OH. But even after his 12 pro-bowl seasons, but won’t be eligible until 2011. I have little doubt that his number (55) will be the third Charger number retired after Dan Fouts and Alworth.

I just hope AJ gives him a short term contract as a Charger, so that he may suite up and retire as a Charger, like the Cowboys did for Emmett Smith.
