Good to be in first.

This weekend was a beautiful weekend for San Diego sports fans. Both the Chargers and Padres took control of their match-ups and found themselves in first place.
I was one of the few Padre fans that made it to Chavez Ravine to watch the Padres smoke the Dodgers 11-2. We took some heat from the neighboring Dodger fans, but with the dodgers raising the white flag in the 4th, there was not much they could say or do.
Since it been a series of ups and downs… taking first place on Sunday, loosing it on Monday, and regaining it Tuesday. Only time will tell where they Padres will place when the season ends in 14 games. Dodgers are a 1/2 behind us in the NL West, and in the Wild Card we have the Phillies (1.5 back) Giants (5 back), and Marlins (5.5 back)
Charger fans were treated to another dominating performance by the Chargers Defense. The Bolts allowed 7 total points against the Titans of Tennessee, while putting up 40 Points of their own. Rivers threw for more then 30 times which should put to rest any questions of the kid’s readiness to lead the team to the playoffs. LT had 2 TD’s, while Turner what the top rusher after several break through runs. We are 2nd in Points Scored, 3rd Points Allowed, 2nd Defense and 4 for Offense. How do you like them Apples?
Chargers lead the AFC West with a record of 2-0. With the early Bye this week we can hope for the Broncos to choke against the Patriots Monday night, and some fierce match ups against the Ravens and Steelers in the following weeks.
