New Numa !@#$ ?

Remember when Gary Brolsma release did his now infamous Numa-Numa video. Trying to lift his spirits after the death of his father, Gary created the now famous Internet Meme. With the hilarious video of O-Zone’s Dragosta Din Tei, Gary reached internet stardom, inspiring countless other videos from Numa fans. Yesterday he released his second video entitled New Numa.

The innocence from the original video has been lost with the new video and newnuma.com. Armed with a $45,000 prize, sponsor and website chalk full of merchandise, Gary and Co. is looking to cash in on his fame. The contest invites numa-fans to create their own videos, after purchasing the song for $1.00. This fan contest will attempt to duplicate what occurred innocently and naturally the first time around.

The contest is sponsored by Jaeter Corp, produced the new song, which I have little doubt they own the rights to. Gary obviously didn’t own the rights to the original song, but with the proper rights in place they are quick to offer the song for download at $1.00 and ring tones for $2.49 each. This doesn’t even begin to touch upon the Cafe-Press store full of shirts, mugs and other goodies.
