Valetines Day…
Posted on | February 14, 2008 | No Comments
Its that time of year again. Valentines Day. Its the day where you get to see all the forgetful men line up at the grocery stores to fight over the last dozen over priced roses, chocolate, and cards. They don’t understand why they are doing it, and their significant others won’t understand why they didn’t. But the more you think of it, the more you’ll fine people fit one of three categories on this ‘holiday’.
You Love It
- You like the romantic side of life and enjoy the gesture.
- Its a great excuse to have an awesome date night and do something special.
- Flowers, Chocolate, Jewelry and gifts are always nice to give and receive.
You Hate It
- You don’t see why sharing your feelings should be reserved for 1 day of the year. Shouldn’t it be year round?
- You’ve been burned in the past, and now see it as a day people who pretend to know what love is.
- Its a holiday drawn up by the greeting card, chocolate, floral and jewelry industries to boost sales (like black friday, mothers day, fathers day, and bosses day).
It All Depends
- You follow it if you have that special someone, but also see it for its contrived faults.
- Its a feel good day, but you could be just as happy with a group of close friends / family.
Personally, I think I fall into the last category. As most of you probably know, I enjoy doing the romantic and silly things for no good reason at all, Valentines Day just gives me another excuse to do something like that. At the same time, I see it as a typical hallmark holiday, designed for commercial purposes. But who, really cares? Take a look at the Superbowl. It’s been designed to be a commercial, money making event from the begining… but it doesn’t stop it from having higher ratings then any other sporting event out there!
