I don’t subscribe to all the Lost Fan sites out there so there’s no outside influence here. I explained this to Brandie the other night, and her only response was… thats f’d up. So here’s the theory for what its worth:

The Players

So the entire show revolves around Good vs. Evil, the balance of nature. Jacob and this other dude, I’m going to call the Smoke Monster for lack of another name. These two remind me of Greek gods, messing with the human race, just to see how human react to situations. Jacob is the good guy, represented in white attire. Seth is the bad guy, represented in black attire.

In LOST, Jacob and the Smoke Monster are playing a game, where many of characters on the island are the game pieces. This game has happened over and over again, but the end result is always the same. The balance of good vs evil is maintained. Jacob is good with this however the Smoke Monster is not and manipulates the game, finding a way around the rules to have Ben kill Jacob (End of Season 5)

The Rules

So like any game of chess there are rules that can’t be violated. The game must be played out and they can not interfere with the game. Jacob has selected his players and Seth has selected his own. Within the seaside cave, several of the main characters had their names written on the cave ceiling, by Jacob. Those players that have died have been crossed out. As the individuals go through their lives they have been met with challenges, where they must choose good or evil, right or wrong. If one of Jacobs characters go evil, they are ‘claimed’. If one of Seth’s players goes good, it tips it the other way. Currently Claire, Sawyer and apparently Sayid have been claimed, by the Smoke Monster.

This brings into question whether Jacob and the Smoke Monster actually manipulate the lives of the characters of if they have free will to make their own decisions. It is pretty safe to say some manipulation has occurred with Jacob visiting most of the main characters, but when it comes to make choices, a common message throughout Lost, are the characters acting on their own? My theory is that they have been manipulated to getting to the island, after all the other candidates have been eliminated, but the decisions made on the island are 100% theirs to own.

Jacob and the Smoke Monster are tired of playing the game, and they are looking for replacements. My theory is it’ll end up being Jack and Sawyer, that replace the two and continue to play their game of good vs evil and life.

Past Games

There have been many instances, of black and white good vs. evil. One of the first episodes Locke and Walt have a discussion about backgammon and checkers. The spoke about how backgammon was the oldest game known. “Two Players, Two Sides, One is light, One is dark.” Chess and Checkers have also been mentioned numerous times throughout the seasons. Lost is a game, just on a larger scale then a 1ft x 1ft board. More like the size of an island.

So the secret menu at In-n-Out isn’t so secret anymore, after all it is on their website if you know where to look. Ordering your Double Double ‘Animal Style’ doesn’t impress anyone any more. But there are other food joints that also have secret menu’s that you can order off of, if you know the special words. Jamba Juice Secret Menu consists of more deserts to tease the taste buds. Starbucks blends up some unique combination of coffees and offers a more economical size. Chipotle Secret Menu isn’t secret, just over looked and remains the healthiest secret menu around.

Chipotle Secret Menu

This healthy fast food restaurant will (with in reason) make anything for you if they have the ingredients for it. They don’t attempt to hide this, infact its printed on their to-go menus. Starting with quality ingredients these by far are the healthiest of the bunch. Here are three favorites:

Chipotle Nachos

Start with a Bowl of Chips, and pile on the meats, salsas, beans, sour cream and guac. This meal can get messy real quick so grab a fork and napkin.

Chipotle Quesadilla

The Mexican food’s grilled cheese. Burrito Tortilla filled with cheese for a simple and cheap treat. If your looking for a little more throw in the grilled chicken and salsa. I’d avoid beans or barbacoa beef on this one.

Starbucks Secret Menu

Biscotti Frapuccino:

Have a biscotti blended into your favorite flavor of frapaccino. The result is blend of cookie crumbs in a tasty frozen coffee.

Short Drink

You always thought the Tall, Grande and Venti sizes were the equivalent of a Small, Medium and Large, but really they are medium, large, and extra large. You can order any drink in the ‘short’ size, which is the equivalent of a small. Leaving this menu item ensures you buy a larger and more expensive drink.

Red Eye

Standard Coffee + 1 shot of Espresso

Black Eye

Standard Coffee + 2 shots of Espresso

Green Eye

Standard Coffee + 3 shots of Espresso

Jamba Juice

This place comes off as a healthy smoothie joint, until you know what else they can blend up for you. These smoothies throw healthy out the window, leaving out or limiting the fruit and sicking with the fruit juices and sherbets. Give some of these a try and let me know how they went.

Super simple to keep up and keep alive. I’ve a few brown tips from the winter break, but overall these things are health. So I wanted to take the next step up and get a Pachira Aquatica, or a Money Tree. A co-worker had one on his desk but I never thought anything of it, until I spotted it at Ikea.

A money tree is really some swamp tree that grows in Central and South America. Its nick name comes from the 5 leaves on each branch representing the 5 Feng Shui elements, Water, Earth, Fire, Metal and Wood. Many growers will also grow 5 trees in one pot and intertwine their trucks into one tree. Many people also believe it brings luck and money.

Ikea only had 3-4 left and they were all looking pretty pathetic, so I decided to wait until they go their next shipment in. But I’ve walked across the street 3-4 times now and nothing. The Money Trees were replaced with some soft of ficus and palm plants. You always want what you can’t have, so I’ve now been searching. Nothing close at Lowes, Target or the Nursery near my office. I’ve heard rumors about Home Depot or Walmart carrying them, but haven’t ventured that way yet.

I WILL find my Money Tree, and it better be worth the search and effort.

Today’s wisdom comes from an Amazon Review:

This item has wolves on it which makes it intrinsically sweet and worth 5 stars by itself, but once I tried it on, that’s when the magic happened. After checking to ensure that the shirt would properly cover my girth, I walked from my trailer to Wal-mart with the shirt on and was immediately approached by women. The women knew from the wolves on my shirt that I, like a wolf, am a mysterious loner who knows how to ‘howl at the moon’ from time to time (if you catch my drift!). The women that approached me wanted to know if I would be their boyfriend and/or give them money for something they called mehth. I told them no, because they didn’t have enough teeth, and frankly a man with a wolf-shirt shouldn’t settle for the first thing that comes to him.

I arrived at Wal-mart, mounted my courtesy-scooter (walking is such a drag!) sitting side saddle so that my wolves would show. While I was browsing tube socks, I could hear aroused asthmatic breathing behind me. I turned around to see a slightly sweaty dream in sweatpants and flip-flops standing there. She told me she liked the wolves on my shirt, I told her I wanted to howl at her moon. She offered me a swig from her mountain dew, and I drove my scooter, with her shuffling along side out the door and into the rest of our lives. Thank you wolf shirt.

Pros: Fits my girthy frame, has wolves on it, attracts women
Cons: Only 3 wolves (could probably use a few more on the ‘guns’), cannot see wolves when sitting with arms crossed, wolves would have been better if they glowed in the dark.

Since I can remember I’ve received instant messenger spam on my AIM account. I ignore most of the random phrases they send. It wasn’t until today I noticed a trend. They are all user names with ‘coho’ within them. The funny part is… I don’t mind the spam. They show up at random and often give me a little chuckle.

Here’s a sampling:

trendycoho:

arborealcoho: Pirate vs. Knight. Who wins?

cyclingcoho: I IMed you first. If I deny this later, I’m lying.

dictatorialcoho: Lady Gaga is ugly.

fumblingcoho: I dare you to do something completely expected. Because rebellion against the expected is so commonplace that it’s become the norm, and is thus expected. Are we so desperate for individualism that we need to rebel against every status quo in existence?

mydearcoho: Catholics are fine eatin’.

punishedcoho: You know, some guys just can’t hold their arsenic.

Ok… that one’s creepy.

Update:
I did some googling and found out this is a common thing and has been going on for quite some time. Its not actually spam, but a AIM bot trying to get to AIM users to communicate with each other. The user names of the two AIM users are replaced by Salmon or Coho (a type of salmon) and they would effectively never know who they were talking to.

This piece of spam found its way into my work gmail inbox. This is a Hungarian variation of the Nigerian Money Scam or the 419 scam, where someone has a large sum of money they want to share with you, and all you have to do is provide your bank account number and… poof your money disappears. This new piece is quite brilliant, reusing the recipients last name to build a more convincing story.

My only questions is… if I’m the beneficiary and relative why do I only get 40%?

DEAR HALE,

Sequel to your non response of our earlier letter to you on behalf of the Trustees and Executors to the Will of our late client Dr PHILLIP HALE.
Since I have been unsuccessful in locating the relatives for over 2 years now. I seek your consent to present you as the Next of Kin of the deceased, since you have the same last name as my late client, so that the proceeds of this deposit be SENT to your own benefit. All that I require is your honest cooperation to enable us see this deal through.
Please accept my apologies, keep my confidence and disregard this email if not interested.
